When Anthony Vaccarello sent Winter 2022 down the runway in March, the critically-acclaimed designer welcomed a new era for the French fashion house: switching sex for sophistication. Inspired by British publisher Nancy Cunard, gone were the days of PVC pants and micro hemlines making way for a certain sense of elegance that only Paris – and the Belgian born designer – could offer. Slinky gathered gowns were presented alongside sheer tulle skirts and oversized outwear, while accessories were inspired by evening wear pieces of the Art Deco era: the strappy sky-high sandals, a cigarette box bag and sculptural jewellery.
This season, Saint Laurent tapped German photographer Juergen Teller to lens the 55-look collection into a campaign. Lending his signature touch of brutalist glamour to the sleek offering, it was a creative partnership made in heaven. Then of course there was Hailey Bieber who walked the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in new season wares while Zoë Kravitz proposed street style appeal when she was captured in LA. All to later coincide with the highly-anticipated release of Winter 2022 – a collection that has been dubbed Vaccarello’s best yet – into stores.
Its fitting timing of course as we dive into December and the beginning of a month’s long celebration.
