As a beauty mogul, Selena Gomez is in the rare position of having one of the most sought-after makeup brands in the world, yet never feels like she has to compromise on her own tried-and-tested makeup uniform for the sake of promoting her label.
Such is proven in Gomez’s latest outing, which you can view for yourself here.
After appearing at Beyonce’s (or should we say Blue Ivy’s) epic Renaissance Tour show in Paris, the star has been spotted meandering the streets of the French capital in a look that forgoes the typical “reference the city you’re in” approach to holiday wear (and holiday makeup).
Indeed, the Parisian chic beauty tropes pandered by adherents of the French girl aesthetic may have you believe that a trip to the capital requires two things: a bold red lip and a sort of shaggy curtain bang.
This may be the case for many—although GRAZIA editors are known to also forgo this rule in favour of their own Parisian testaments: a trip to L’Entrecôte and a visit to our favourite top-secret luxury consignment stores.
However, for Gomez, the star opted for a more demure—and therefore more impactful—take on the timeless French style. For the occasion, Gomez donned a monochromatic knitted black ensemble that included a melange of both French and American designers.
Stepping out at her hotel, Gomez was pictured wearing a sleeveless turtleneck from The Row, a pair of high-waisted yet slightly slouchy Aritiza pants, Proenza Schouler strappy heels and Prada’s Symbole sunglasses.
Yet, when it came to her signature beauty look, see: a bright lip and cat eyeliner, Gomez kept things minimal, opting for rather a your-skin-but-better complexion and the beauty status symbol du jour: a stretchy black headband.
With this modern Brigitte Bardot off-duty look, Gomez has proven that the best holiday looks are ones that are mostly understated. An American girl in Paris, indeed.
