Celebrities have long permeated the food industry. Chrissy Teigan and Stanley Tucci are also cook book authors. Paris Hilton has a food-adjacent YouTube series (comedic gold, if you haven’t already watched). George Clooney and Ryan Reynolds own tequila and gin companies respectively. Now, Selena Gomez is set to join the kitchen ranks, following the announcement she will star in a 10-part cooking series with HBO Max. The “unapologetically authentic cookalong” will see Gomez work with a difference master chef per episode who will guide her through a meal.

The singer and Rare Beauty founder has been, like the rest of the world, finding solace in the kitchen these past few weeks. In a statement pertaining the the show, she said: “I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food. I think I’ve been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do, and I’ve answered that it would be fun to be a chef. I definitely don’t have the formal training, though! Like many of us while being home, I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”

Last night on her stories, she posted a Turkey Baked Ziti. She’s also shared more food-stagrams in the past – from birthday cake to slurping down bowls of spaghetti. Gomez even has a cooking playlist on Spotify, should you fancy a fresh soundtrack while you wait for your sourdough to rise. Celebrities… they’re just like us.

According to details, the show is set to premiere later this year (HBO Max is launching this month), and will have a philanthropic element. Also, the code name being given to the project is… Untitled Cooking Show. Apt. Watch this space for more details.
