Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is no stranger to skin and beauty advice. The supermodel, actress and businesswoman has been working in the fashion industry for years, affording her access to some of the world’s top facialists and skin experts – she even runs her own digital beauty publication Rose Inc. This vast knowledge base and experience with treatments is what makes Huntington-Whiteley‘s advice for dealing with acne all the more refreshing.
As she revealed on Instagram today, Huntington-Whiteley’s acne-prone skin means that the 33-year-old continues to deal with breakouts on a regular basis. As anyone who has dealt with persistent acne will know, it’s a lengthy process that doesn’t just disappear after the use of a single product. For many, trying to treat severe breakouts can be an arduous endeavour, one that’s often marred by thousands of dollars, unsolicited advice and ultimately, a lot of disappointment.
“I just felt so insecure about my skin,” Huntington-Whiteley said of her relationship to acne in a recent YouTube video. “People were commenting on it. Anybody who has struggled with acne—whether it’s a small breakout or whether it’s severe—will know it’s something that emotionally can affect you.”
It’s something that Huntington-Whiteley says she’s come to accept, writing on her Instagram that it’s “something I’ve been dealing with for my entire adult life”. She attributes her currently blemish-free complexion to following “a great skincare routine that I diligently stick to”, which includes a few key products to target her main concerns.
Perhaps surprisingly, Huntington-Whiteley’s routine is relatively simple. She name-checks a number of “great facial esthetician[s]” who she sees for regular light therapy, chemical peels and laser treatments –including Shani Darden and Australia’s own skin whisperer Melanie Grant – but ultimately says her clear skin is down to the products she uses.
“Currently I’m using an entire regime from @zoskinhealth, it has completely changed my skin,” she wrote. “I also love @isclinical and @facerealityskincare products.” Another essential, according to RHW, is using an antibacterial face cloth from newly-launched Australian brand Resorè, and enlisting “only non-comedogenic skincare and makeup.” She also looks out for potent ingredients in the products she uses, including “AHA’s and retinoids”.
