Unsurprisingly Rihanna’s postpartum wardrobe has been picture perfect. Take for example her recent date night look with A$AP Rocky which featured a Jean Paul Gaultier corset top. Or her festival look from Wireless Festival in London, where she stood as the foot of the stage wearing a rare Balenciaga x Adidas jersey.
Stepping out in New York City at the weekend Rihanna tried her hand at another oversized look. This time she single-handedly sounded the revival of the divisive thigh-high boots. The pop icon paired baggy suede boots from Belgian designer Glenn Martin’s most recent trompe-l’œil collection for Y/Project with a teeny denim skirt and a 2003 printed band shirt. She finished the look with a Tom Ford era Gucci spring/summer 1996 python tote.
It’s still sweltering in Manhattan but with the fall season fast approaching for the northern hemisphere, it seems the thigh-grazing footwear is here to stay. The look certainly had a moment in 2021 with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Irina Shayk and Julia Fox trying the tricky trend. The Russian model paired a Burberry iteration with a lime green bikini in Ibiza while the reality star made her Instagram couple debut with Pete Davidson in a metallic pair (RIP Skete).
Rihanna welcomed her son in May although we have not been made privy to a name just yet.
There are new rumours emerging that the Fenty founder may be preparing to release new music soon.
