When news first broke Rihanna was launching a skincare line, we (read: our complexions) jumped for joy. Finally! Fenty Beauty had a skincare sister to cleanse, buff, moisturise, give-us-that-Rihanna-glow with: Fenty Skin was in the works and we couldn’t have been happier.

Now only days away (literally – three days – it’s launching July 31), Rihanna has been a lot less scrective of the launch. “Ima try my best to be humble about this but, @fentyskin is coming July 31st exclusively at FENTYSKIN.COM!!” she wrote on her Instagram a week ago. “Y’all ain’t hear it from me 🤫 but you can shop it early if ya drop me your email through the link in my bio…”
And drop her an email we did.
But today, she gleaned a little more about the impending launch (arguably the biggest of the year), this time sharing something a little more personal: her skincare journey. “I’m a woman of colour and I have a lot of sensitivity in a lot of areas on my face so I get really picky with products and a lot of times I get scared and cautious,” she said in a video uploaded to Instagram. “I wanted a product that just worked. More than anything that was the most important thing for me.”
The singer went on to share more intimate insights about her own skin and in turn the challenges she faces on a daily basis, adding:
“My skincare journey has been quite complex…some parts of my face are oily, some are dry, fatigue from travel, plus I have super sensitive skin, and chile now being in my 30s?!! making @fentyskin was a challenge to cover all bases and thinking of the many skin types that are out there! But y’all know I love a good challenge 💪🏿🧖🏿♀️ …check it out on youtube.com/fentyskin.” (Turns out she’s human after all).

Having worked on Fenty Skin for over two years, it’s been a long time coming for the woman who revolutionised the makeup world with her inclusive palette, and of course, her skincare line has to work in tandem with her beauty line. “I’ve been working on @fentyskin for over 2 years, perfecting formulas and creating packaging that is kind to our planet!! Formulas that work, and work well with makeup!!! Everything starts with the foundation that is your skin and we all know how obsessed I am with beautiful, healthy skin – so whether you want to wear makeup, or no makeup at all, there’s always glowing skin underneath.”
Words to live by, it all starts with good skin – and come July 31, we’re ready for that glowing, Rihanna skin.
