Jenna Dewan hit the headlines this weekend for being an ultimate ex-wife, supporting ex-husband Channing Tatum’s new girlfriend Jessie J over a social media backlash. She’s also the co-host of JLo’s new show World Of Dance and, ever since her transition to a sans-hyphenated surname, the former star of Step Up seems to be just generally hitting new career highs. And aside from all that goal-kicking, she’s also becoming one of our favourite new style stars.
The 37-year-old mother of one does California-cute like she invented it. A look that fits perfectly with the Aussie summer months, too. Dewan’s look today while out in LA was a Sandra-Dee-esque ensemble of white tee, white canvas trainers and a midi skirt. It’s simple (and comfy!) enough to wear on the regular but also chic enough to cue many a head-turn. It’s heading straight to our high rotation. Perfect for Saturday lunch dates, afternoon out-and-abouts or even casual days in the office. This look is a total step up (sorry) from ye olde tee-plus-denim-cut-offs-plus-slides bore.
Notes on getting the look just right: Tuck in your tee or shirt so that the skirt nips in at your waist. Wrap style skirts are extra cute at the moment. Go for colour and/or a print. A silky, floaty fabric will work best. Make sure the length of the skirt is ‘midi’, that is: just below the knee.
