Since departing the UK in 2020 Prince Harry has endured a shaky relationship with older brother Prince William. The pair have remained amicable in the public eye during family affairs such as the funeral of Prince Phillip and the unveiling of a statue in memory of Princess Diana, but in a new report it appears that they have had to work actively to mend the “royal rift”.

According to British publication The Mirrorthe royal brothers are communicating weekly and on regular FaceTime calls with their respective children. It is believed that wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have not been involved in those discussions.

“The brothers needed time for everything to settle down,” a source told the outlet. “The family, including William, had been disappointed in the way Harry and Meghan chose to leave the royal family.”

Prince William was reportedly the first to reach out. The news arrived just days before the Queen’s highly-anticipated platinum jubilee in the UK this weekend – a celebration of the Queen’s seven decades of service –  where Prince Harry and Markle will travel with their two children. “The Queen wanted the Jubilee to be a fresh start for the brothers,” the insider added.

It has also been reported that the Queen will meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet for the first time. It will also be the first time that Markle and Middleton meet in person since the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to England just recently to visit the Royal family before embarking to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games however, they did not meet with Prince William and Middleton.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to clear the air and offer an olive branch,” editor Ingrid Seward told The Sun at the time. “After everything that has gone on it must have taken a lot for Harry and Meghan to go to Windsor.”
