While the overarching NYFW beauty theme this season has been bold glamour, Prabal Gurung instead showed us the quiet power of neutrals during his runway show in New York City yesterday.
With makeup by Sil Bruinsma for MAC Cosmetics, the look involved dimensional shades of taupe, beige, chocolate and terracotta swept across eyes, cheeks and lips.
“This season Prabal Gurung went with a collection that is very colourful with lots of different shades. The makeup we are using is more monochromatic. We are going for a very diverse cast with many different ethnicities so I designed a makeup look that is very tonal and monochromatic and a luxe nude,” Sil Bruinsma said in a press release.

MAC’s eye shadows in Espresso and Standstone proved popular, while lips were painted with Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipstick in Hug Me, Thanks it’s MAC, $ellout and Yash.
Textures were natural and slightly matte, unlike the hyper glossy, disco-ball finishes seen everywhere else. Overall it was extremely luxurious and expensive looking — exactly the kind of makeup we’d like to wear every single day.
