We recently began our ‘Postcards from Home’ journey, where team GRAZIA sent a postcard from their “happy place”.

But instead of idyllic outposts and pastoral hamlets, these postcards came from inside our homes. Whether it was nestling next to the Nespresso machine or retreating to family properties to seek solace, we shared our favourite little pockets and why they’re so special during these unprecedented and uncertain times. A little at-home escapism, if you will.

We visited sunny Gymea Bay with Editorial Director Jessica Bailey, a tranquil Darling Point with Beauty Editor Emily Algar and a verdant North Bondi nook with Fashion Features Editor, Chrisanthi Kaliviotis. We even ventured “out bush”, to the bucolic hometown of ICON Editorial Assistant Rebekah Clark in Armidale, New South Wales.

Today, however, we venture a little further.

This postcard comes from the idiosyncratic, almost futuristic desert kingdom that is Dubai, where Alison Tay, Editor-in-Chief of GRAZIA Middle East, writes to us from her quieter patch of sand. In a peaceful pocket away from the dazzling Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, we glean a little more about what lockdown looks like in the Emirati city and how Tay is whiling away the days…
