Most of Sydney stopped last night to watch the Australian premiere of Babylon, a Hollywood blockbuster described as a love letter to the art of cinema.
But despite its global star power, the film has roots right here in Australia, with homegrown talent Margot Robbie, Samara Weaving and Phoebe Tonkin heading up the female cast.

Tonkin in particular – who got her start on H20: Just Add Water – looked incredible on the red carpet both dressed and made up in CHANEL. The actress is a friend of the house, often wearing their pieces to events. ON this occasion she wore a soft, white knitted dress embellished with tiny sequins all over.
Her makeup was equally chic: fresh skin, rosy blush, a subtle shimmering eye and a berry-stained lip. The look was perfected by Filomena Natoli, a Sydney-based makeup artist who is also the official CHANEL Makeup Artist Australia. Known for her light touch and ability to execute the perfect raw-skin-but-better finish.
Tonkin’s look was finished with a soft wave by stylist Michele McQuillan. She recently dyed her long hair back to a natural brunette hue after a few months spent as a platinum blonde.
In the film, Tonkin plays Jane Thornton, an aspiring actress who accidentally overdoses in the opening party scene. She’s discreetly carried out of the party and taken to the hospital, while Robbie’s character Nellie Laroy is asked to fill in on set the following day.
