The Peter Do FW22 runway show was definitely a NYFW highlight. The designers debut was simple and refined, as we’ve come to expect from the man who trained under Phoebe Philo at Celine. Impeccable tailoring, oversized outerwear, perfect suiting and purposeful accessories were on display, giving the entire collection an air of wearable, understated luxury.

The beauty look was the ultimate compliment. Led by artist Aaron de May for MAC Cosmetics, natural, glossy skin was paired with a series of Earthy eye looks. Shades of copper, terracotta, rust and chocolate brown were concentrated towards the inner corner, while some models also wore an extended shadow wing. Brows were fluffy and bold, cheek colour was non-existent and lips were pressed with a small amount of clear balm.

The hair was also noteworthy. Creatively directed by Jawara for Dyson, the look was sleek, wet and sculpted. Gel was used to scrape hair back away from the face and down the back of the head. The finish was glossy and visibly styled — a modern silhouette that felt aligned with the structured jackets, trousers and coats. Some models also wore their textured hair braids, again moving from the forehead, away from the face.

Overall it was simple but extremely chic — a special but highly practical display of Do’s impeccable taste levels. We’re expecting to see big things from the Vietnamese fashion figure for seasons to come.
