Australian export Nicole Kidman is no stranger to the Oscars red carpet with her first appearance for the Academy Awards in 1991. She went on to win Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in The Hours while 20 years later, she looks to nab her next trophy for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos. This year’s red carpet appearances from the actress have been nothing short of spectacular with her latest look, an ode to hope.

Kidman stepped onto Hollywood Boulevard this evening in a Giorgio Armani privé gown in a dusty periwinkle blue which featured a strapless bustier, voluminous peplum shelf and embellished train. Jewellery was courtesy of Harry Winston. In a recent interview, Kidman’s stylist Julia von Boehm explained the style cues behind the gown.

“You can’t just strip it all [back] because that’s not what the world is,” she said. “We all need a little bit of show business and glamour to keep dreaming and having hope [during] all of this – I think it’s very important. That’s what’s supposed to happen on the red carpet in my opinion.”

Husband Kieth Urban – arguably her best accessory – was also in attendance at the 94th Academy Awards and was photographed admiring the actress on the red carpet. Speaking to The Guardian in December, she recalled that the couple often say to each other: “You’re enough”.

In just the past several years Kidman has captured the world with appearances in Big Little Lies, The Undoing and Nine Perfect Strangers. She is preparing to appear in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Roar, alongside an all-star, all-female cast. She is nominated for Best Actress at the 2022 Oscars alongside Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart and Olivia Coleman.
