A new book by Omid Scobie has shed light on many longstanding rumours. But, according to the Daily Mail, Endgame: Inside The Royal Family And The Monarchy’s Fight For Survival has been pulled in Holland after its Dutch translation reportedly named the Royal who had “concerns” about the skin colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Archie.

The identity of the person has been subject to curiosity since Markle appeared on that “were you silent or were you silenced?” television special with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. At the time, Markle told Winfrey the palace had “concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born.”

“What? Who is having that conversation with you? What?” Oprah remarked, visibly shocked.

“I think that would be very damaging to them,” replied Markle. “That was relayed to me, that was Harry’s conversations with family.”

“That conversation, I am never going to share,” Prince Harry said, later joining his wife in the interview. “At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

The furore led Prince William to publicly clarify that the Royal Family were “very much not a racist family” and Buckingham Palace called the claims “concerning” before saying they would address the issues privately.

In his new book, Scobie says libel laws prevented him from naming the person—and claims a second person within the Royal household also echoed the remarks. But a page sent to journalists in Holland appear to contain the initial person’s name, revealed via letters written between Markle and King Charles.

It is not clear how a foreign version of the book contained a different edit. Dutch publishing house Xander Publishers confirmed to the Daily Mail that it had received a request “from the US” to halt sales.

More to come.
