Blackpink’s Jennie Kim Comes Firing Out Of The Gates With Her Debut Single “Mantra”

Flitting from the Met Gala to Chanel front rows , Jacquemus runways and even the Cannes Film Festival through her appearance in HBO’s The Idol, it’s hard to imagine where Blackpink’s Jennie Kim found the time to turn out the boppiest song of the season. Her first offering under the newly minted partnership between Columbia Records and her very record label and entertainment company ODDATELIER, the South Korean singer pens a sugary anthem to “pretty girls” with “Mantra”.
As the title suggests, the chorus will be something you’re bound to repeat after hearing with a swinging brass section and 80s drums. JENNIE, as she’s now mononymously known, released the track with an accompanying animated video. Taking over Los Angeles, JENNIE dances her way from the iconic Petersen Automotive Museum on Wilshire Boulevard to a car park backdropped by the city’s candy-coloured sunsets. The songstress also gets a little spicy lyrically, singing about “stunnas” that makes you “wanna swing both ways”.
Charli XCX Drops The Highly-Anticipated Remix Album Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat

She’s just living that life. After dominating the zeitgeist with her acid-green album of the summer—and currently taking after Julia Fox by showing up everywhere with Troye Sivan on their “Sweat” tour—Charli XCX has dropped her final magnum opus; the brat remix album. Each of the 16 songs on the original extended release has been altered and translated into the sonic language of each of the elite guest features she’s tapped for the new version.
While the iterations with Lorde, Billie Eilish, Addison Rae, Yung Lean and Robyn have already been out in the universe for a few months now, fans will relish in the experimental offerings. Matty Healy gets poignantly introspective in his downtempo version of “I might say something stupid” while Caroline Polachek unleashes her incredible vocal prowess over a vaporwave-tinged “Everything is romantic”. Talk about working it out on the remix!
