Given the ‘80s trend is everything and beyond right now, it couldn’t be a better time for Michael Kors to go back to his roots.

The New York-based designer, who started his namesake fashion label in 1981, has just dropped an eight-piece, black and white capsule collection emblazoned with OTT logo graffiti. While it spans bags, clothes, watches and shoes, these four-inch stilettos with metal-finish spike heel had us at hello.

All the rich-girl chic of Christie Brinkley in Uptown Girl, all the attitude of Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. “Today, that mix of high/low is everything,” says Michael Kors himself of the graffiti collection.

“I started my company in 1981, at a time when uptown and downtown were really colliding. Uptown girls partied at the Mudd Club and Club 57. Artists like Fab 5 Freddy and Jean-Michel Basquiat showed their work at PS1, and yet you’d still be just as likely to find their signatures on the side of a building in the LES [Lower East Side] or your subway car.”

That heady clubbing era might be over, but the best of fashion remains. As it should be.
