The model-turned-skincare mogul is an oracle when it comes to clean beauty
Welcome to Take Note – a weekly rolodex of all the best in skin, wellness, and makeup from industry insiders. Each week, we’ll profile one woman who’s privvy to beauty, covering everything from recommendations to routines. Today we’re talking to Miranda Kerr: model, mum and founder of clean beauty brand Kora Organics. Kerr’s love of clean beauty stems way back to her hometown of Gunnedah in rural NSW, where her mother and grandmother favoured organic meals, at-home remedies and all things to do with crystals. Now, she’s channeled her upbringing into one of the biggest certified organic skincare brands in the world. As expected, Kerr has a routine the rest of us can only aspire to, but one look at her complexion is all the proof we need to start meditating immediately. SKIN
GRAZIA: What does your morning skincare routine look like?
Miranda: Before I shower, I dry body brush all over. It’s a great way to get the circulation going and remove any dead skin cells.
In the shower I use the Kora Organics Foaming Cleanser followed by the Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask – I use this as a physical exfoliator three to four mornings a week, sometimes I leave it on for five minutes as a mini-mask while I shave my legs. On my body I use the Essential Body Wash – it’s very gentle so doesn’t dry my skin out (so gentle that I’ve used it on all my children since birth).
I also apply the Noni Glow Sleeping Mask each evening before bed. It contains Silver Ear Mushroom, Coconut Milk, Caviar Lime, Kakadu Plum and natural hyaluronic acid, which really plumps the skin, softens fine lines, reduces redness and inflammation. Another step is gua sha! I use the Kora heart-shaped Rose Quartz Facial Sculptor for about five minutes along with the Noni Glow Face Oil to reduce puffiness, lift, tone and sculpt.
.
GRAZIA: If you were heading to a deserted island, what three products would make the cut?
Miranda: I would definitely take the Noni Glow Face Oil because I can’t live without it. Then the Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask because I’m obsessed with exfoliating and face masks. I think I would pack the Enriched Body Lotion too. If I don’t use this product I notice a difference almost straight away – my skin tends to becomes dry and itchy.

GRAZIA: Favourite SPF formula?
Miranda: I like to wear a wide brimmed hat when I’m out in the sun, but my go to sunscreen is Elta MD.
–
GRAZIA: Best treatment out there?
Miranda: I love deep tissue massages and reiki facials! Reiki facials are super calming and help to naturally relax the muscles in your face and soften expression lines. In LA I see Nousha.
GRAZIA: What’s your go-to method for treating a pimple, fast?
Miranda: Australian Tea Tree Oil – it’s antibacterial so great for treating spots.

Makeup
–
GRAZIA: Who is your makeup muse?
Miranda: My Grandmother and Audrey Hepburn.
–
GRAZIA: What’s your go-to makeup look?
Miranda: I mix two drops of Noni Glow Face Oil into RMS Beauty Un-Cover Up (shade 22) and apply with a make-up brush. This leaves my skin looking clear and dewy. Then I apply my Kora Organics Rose Quartz Luminizer on the top of my brow and cheekbones. I also love Dior Lip Glow. It brings out the pigment of your lips and has a natural pinky sheen.
Miranda: Klorane dry shampoo, it’s great for in between washes and to give lift and volume.
.
GRAZIA: Hair tool you can’t live without?
Miranda: I have thick hair, but my hair texture is actually quite fine so I try to wash it at night so it can dry naturally without the use of a hair dryer. I braid it whilst it’s still damp so it has more texture in the morning.
.
GRAZIA: Hair tool you can’t live without?
Miranda: Hair bands, claw clips and an organic cotton Kooshoo head band to keep my hair off my face while I’m doing my skincare routine, have a face mask on or applying make up.
.
GRAZIA: Who cuts and colours your hair?
Miranda: I usually get a trim when I’m on set.
.
WELLNESS
GRAZIA: In a sentence, what’s your approach to wellness?
Miranda: I believe in a connection between mind, body and skin.
.
GRAZIA: What’s your philosophy when it comes to food?
.
Miranda: I generally follow an 80/20 rule, where I make healthy choices 80 per cent of the time and then make indulgent choices 20 per cent of the time. That way I’m not depriving myself. I also choose organic where possible and when given the choice.
.
GRAZIA: What are some common meals in your food repertoire?
I like to start the day with cold pressed celery juice (on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast). I then make a Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie, which contains blueberries, spirulina, barley grass, orange juice, bananas. If I’m still hungry after that, I’ll make oatmeal.
For lunch I like to keep it light with a healthy salad with a protein of either fish, meat or chicken. I have two dinners, one with the kids and then I sit and eat again when Evan gets home. One of my favourite dinner dishes is my slow roast organic chicken with turmeric, lemon and garlic. I cooked it and served it at my wedding!
.
GRAZIA: In what ways do you love to move your body?
.
Miranda: I’m not back into my full exercise program yet, but I’m gradually building up to it. I like a mix of Kundalini yoga, Pilates and swimming – these exercises are gentle but great at toning and elongating the muscles. I also like resistance bands and walking… I like to try and get my 10,000 steps in a day!
.
GRAZIA: Coffee or tea?
.
Miranda: I love to drink tea! It’s like a little ritual each day. I love all different herbal teas (particularly Yogi Teas), English Breakfast and Earl Grey.
.
GRAZIA: Are there any supplements you take regularly?
Miranda: Kora Organics Skinfood Supplement. It’s a water-soluble superfood powder packaged into single serve sachets, so it’s perfect for travelling.
.
GRAZIA: What tricks do you put in place to ensure you get a good night’s sleep?
Miranda: I have a cup of chamomile tea and do a mediation before bed to help relax and unwind. If I have time, I have a little bath ritual I like to do when the boys are in bed asleep where I dim the lights and light a few candles in my bathroom, burn Palo Santo to clear the space and play some calming music (I love Snatam Kaur). I also turn off the wifi and put my phone on flight mode.
