Here at GRAZIA, we were close to taking bets on how long it would be until Meghan Markle appeared in a creation by Dion Lee during the Australian Royal Tour. And hurrah! Today she has fulfilled our speculation…spectacularly. In the fashion-watch that has been this Royal Tour (closely followed by ‘bump watch’) Markle has been her own mini Australian fashion week, giving love to home-grown designers, to both well-known favourites and to some small business cult-labels too.

Today’s look of choice is by the darling of chic, classic, minimalist Australian design, Dion Lee. Arriving in Melbourne for Day Three (what?! Has it really only been three days??) of their tour, the Duchess of Sussex (and her adorable baby bump) wore a classic, A-symmetrical navy mid-length dress custom made for Markle which is now apparently being madly added to Lee’s upcoming collection.

Lee told Melbourne’s Herald Sun “We custom made the gown at her request and it’s so special to see the product on Meghan. She looks beautiful and we are so grateful for the worldwide exposure she has given to the brand.”

According to rumours, the dress will be available for pre-order from this afternoon. Considering the site-crashing craze that has followed Markle’s previous sartorial choices, we expect Dion Lee’s team is in for a busy day…

Any takers for tomorrow’s label? A fabulous Maticevski perhaps? Or, since the weather is meant to improve in Sydney, perhaps a Zimmermann resort piece? Gird your e-comm guys, the Meghan Markle Royal shoppers are coming…
