The United States Memorial Day weekend has a few housekeeping rules to be followed. As the unofficial beginning of summer, the public holiday marks the first time you’re able to wear all-white before packing the monochrome hue away on Labor Day. It’s also the time when summer flings reign supreme, with those who conferred their affections for one another during cuffing season get out their (un)serious relationships. Of course, there’s also the sales, with balmy boutiques popping up from Malibu in Montauk in order to take advantage of our sun-kissed sartorial mindset. Who would’ve thought that it was Mary-Kate Olsen who would adhere to these guidelines so diligently?

This past Memorial Day, the fashion designer eschewed her ultra-private approach to outings by bringing an old flame to The Row’s new Hamptons flagship store. Yes, in Amagansett, Margaux bags aren’t the only things being lusted over. The suitor in question is a former professional ice hockey player named Sean Avery, whom MK reportedly dated back in 2007. They were joined at the restoration New England residence by Bravo head huncho Andy Cohen. (Interestingly, Olsen’s ex-husband, French banker Olivier Sarkozy was spotted at a dinner in Manhattan with former French countess and Real Housewives Of New York star, Luann de Lesseps.) Given the level of secrecy surrounding the Olsen twins, it’s unlikely we will hear anymore about her relationship—be it romantic or platonic—with Avery.

However, it has provided an unexpected level of publicity for the new store. (Not that any was needed for it to be a success in the first place!). For those spending summer in The Hamptons, The Row is located at 216 Main St, which you’ll be able to spot from its unassuming (though enviable) exterior façade and perfectly manufactured landscaping lined with mugo pine bushes.  With pieces nestled alongside interiors like Olivier Mourgue’s 1969 anthropomorphic bouloum lounge chair and vintage screens, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have made a compelling retail destination fit to—and enjoy—the heat in. Hot summer nights, indeed.
