A childhood dream has come true for Margot Robbie.

The actress is set to play Barbie in a live-action film about the iconic doll.

Amy Schumer had signed onto play the role, but pulled out last year.

“Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president,” Robbie said in a statement.

“I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide.”

Robbie is also co-producing through her LuckyChap Entertainment company, which he runs with husband Tom Ackerley.

It’s a somewhat surprising move for Robbie, who is yet to star in a children’s film.

The Oscar-nominated Australian’s schedule is packed: she’s recently wrapped Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Fair And Balanced – but don’t worry, she always makes time to be a normal woman in her twenties.
