This week, Maison Valentino travelled to a sun-drenched Sydney (albeit only momentarily) to take over the French patisserie La Renaissance in The Rocks to celebrate the new Valentino Rendez-Vous collection. First unveiled at Carreau du Temple in Paris, key styles from Pierpaolo Piccoli’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection are showcased throughout the vibrant café which overlooks the stunning Sydney harbour.
Located in a historic neighbourhood packed with vibrant culture, La Renaissance, a small local business, is a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city – and an intimate setting that welcomes all for a little slice of a Parisian pastime. Particularly in lieu of border closures.
The apt collaboration brings a certain street spirit into the collection, from the cobblestoned laneways of Paris to Sydney. As Valentino so perfectly notes, “Fashion is imagined in the studio and created in the Atelier, but it is on the street that it becomes alive and real, meeting the imperfection of existence.”
The old sandstone cafe is lined with campaign images of the beautiful Zendaya while small colourful bouquets are peppered throughout the area – it’s as if Spring has arrived early for the harbour city. For a limited period, guests can look forward to a special Valentino experience within the café and enjoy a unique Valentino menu conceived exclusively for the occasion by in-house chef and owner Jean-Michel Raynau.
