“Even if you don’t feel hopeful, wear hope like a garment you’ll grow into. Put it on today and commit to putting it back on tomorrow. Even if it doesn’t fit yet, trust that it will in time. Keep moving,” poet and writer Maggie Smith once said. There is no denying that the world feels oh so heavy right now – in the wake of conflict and climate crisis- but it is this sentiment that leads the latest release for Maggie Marilyn.

Founding Designer, Maggie Hewitt today unveils the next Forever capsule from the carbon-positive Good Earth Cotton Farm in Moree in northern NSW, Australia. Starring local supermodel Shanina Shaik, the latest campaign is aptly dubbed The Pursuit of Good and features a collection made from traceable and organic or repurposed fibres. Brightly coloured joyful dresses, jackets, and blouses aim to inspire hope and optimism.

Maggie Marilyn is not only known for whimsical design cues and buttery colour palettes but is an industry leader in circular and transparent fashion. Shaik is captured returning to the land – to the origin of the capsule’s story, to create valuable recall and establish respect. The designer believes that Mother Nature has already created a perfect blueprint for how humans can coexist with the earth in harmony. Here, she portrays models that are dusting off their despair and fears, and marching forward with an understanding that pace is less important than progress.

“This is the longest period I’ve ever taken to design a Forever collection, and it wasn’t because I couldn’t – it was because I could. 14 seasons in, I think this is the one I’m most proud of. These are the cherished garments I will wear and take with me as I step back into the global fashion arena. This time, with more purpose and conviction than ever to Create a Better World”, says Maggie Hewitt.

The concept of a Forever collection was established by Hewitt in a bid to slow consumption and breakdown the notion of regular, seasonal collections that follow trends. Pieces are made in small quantities and are made to be worn for many years to come.
