I’ve written before that my love for leather pants is also flanked by fear thanks to Ross Gellar’s comically horrifying FRIENDS experience. However, once overcome, I bought a pair many years ago. From the minute I put them on, I felt like I had superior legs. Sheeny, swooshy, cinched-in, fancy pins that were thrilled to be free from their denim rut.

Well, hold on to your motorcycle, they are back for big business again this season. Spotted in just one day on the silhouettes of Katie Holmes, Cara Delevigne and Charlize Theron, it seems the trend is perfect for the cool-calm chicness of New York City.

Cara and Katie were both attending the Chanel-hosted Tribeca Film Festival dinner, while Charlize was spotted on her way to a NYC radio interview. All three look chic and give good case for forking out the investment that usually comes with purchasing a pair of leather daks. But never fear, there are plenty of vegan options available too, so your repping of the original Rockstar-uniform can be totally ethical (and usually a lot cheaper) too.

This year, we’re gravitating to their surprising utility and adding them to our casual daywear repertoire. No need to save them for dressy evenings, although they double down perfectly for this as well. Sport them with a pair of trainers, a tee and blazer for a super simple, super chic look you’ll be vibing all season.
