Acquiring vintage John Galliano-era Y2K Dior or one of Vivienne Westwood’s 1990s Portrait collection corsets at Los Angeles’ cult-favourite archival luxury boutique, Pechuga Vintage, is a rite of passage for any burgeoning style savant.

Of course, Hollywood’s nepotism baby of the month, Lily-Rose Depp is an established fashion fixation in her own right, but has she possibly cemented her sartorial prowess in a league of her own after stepping out in a ‘gift with purchase’ piece from the vintage dealer?

Overnight, 24-year-old Depp took to the streets of L.A. with her partner, rapper 070 Shake, sporting a very Jocelyn-approved, sleaze-dripped ensemble. A world-class sinner, indeed.

Sartorially referencing her surroundings, a.k.a The Idols’ “gutters of Hollywood”, Depp eschewed her French-American style for a sultry look that’s as noughtie as it is, well, naughty.

Taking notes from the modish silhouettes of the 60s with a little downtown darling twist, Depp continued her vintage fashion streak with a lace bodysuit embroidered with treble clef and quaver musical motifs—perhaps a nod to Jocelyn’s pop idol status or her middle name, ‘Melody’?

The piece is a rare find: a deadstock garment from the late British beatnik fashion designer, Mary Quant. Putting a Parisian coquette spin on the one-piece, Depp added creamy bows to the thin straps of the garment.

Yet, it was Depp’s styling of the piece that would’ve gotten Quant’s tick of approval. Depp reached for a thigh-grazing micro white mini-skirt from lauded Lower East Side label, Maryam Nassir Zadeh, for the bottom half of her ensemble.

The ensemble itself was very much within Depp’s new-age sensual wheelhouse, even right down to her ballerina-meets-block-heel pumps from Repetto Paris, but it was her accessory of choice that piqued our interest.

Over her face, Depp donned a studded steampunk cat mask from Pechuga, a piece described by owner Johnny Valencia as a gift with purchase.

What purchase? Given Depp has been frequently sporting a slew of surrealist Jean Paul Guiltier pieces acquired from Pechuga, including Frida Khalo-inspired pieces from JPG’s Spring/Summer 1998 collection, we can only imagine the trinkets and treasures Valencia added to her shopping bag.

Even if it does include a studded cat mask he claimed was a store prop. Either way, this kink-inspired accessory was the purrfect compliment to grunge up her lunch date look.
