Lily Collins has spent the past few days exploring San Miguel in Mexico, posting photos of the colourful flag and flower-laden streets, the architecture, Day of the Dead decorations and, of course, a few holiday ‘fit pics for good measure.

The Emily in Paris actress, who is in the city with her husband, director Charlie McDowell, for a friend’s wedding, has been dressing in printed, balloon-sleeved maxis with sneakers, changing into black dresses with loafers and blazers for nighttime. But instead of the usual Reformation-type wedding guest look you’d expect, Collins opted to wear something a little different for the nuptials.

Posting a photo dump from the day, the 33-year-old showed her look, which consisted of a pair of simple black cigarette trousers and a high-neck black top under a white blazer. In a very Emily Cooper addition, Collins added a statement Chanel brooch. She wore simple white flats on her feet in lieu of heels with pearl earrings, a Chanel flap bag and wore her hair pulled back with a black bow.

Collins is just the latest celebrity to buck tradition when it comes to wedding guest dressing. Dua Lipa wore a see-through dress to her friend Simon Porte Jacquemus’ wedding in France earlier this year (that was created by the groom himself, so you know it was pre-approved) and, famously, Kendall Jenner wore the Monet cut-out dress to end all cut-out dresses at her friend Lauren Perez’s wedding last year. After much backlash, she later revealed via Instagram comments that her look was pre-approved by the bride, too.

Though Collins went far less risky and skin-baring with her look, we’re sitting happy in the knowledge that flats and trousers are confirmed as being wedding-appropriate. Cosy!
