Lara Worthington rarely misses when appearing on the red carpet, but tonight’s Versace moment at the G’Day USA Gala is something else entirely.

The model and entrepreneur – who was in attendance to support her husband – wore a vintage fall 1998 Gianni Versace dress. While perfectly attuned to her signature style (classic, minimalistic, chic) the backless gown looked devastatingly glamorous, especially paired with black YSL stilettos and a Prada crystal bag.

Her beauty look was also – unsurprisingly – perfect. Nikki DeRoest (who regularly works with clients like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Camila Morrone) executed Worthington’s makeup; a simple but elevated look characterised by fresh skin, a soft nude lip, subtle blush and a slick metallic eye. Worthington is more known for her immaculate complexion than her adventurous makeup choices (she’s also the face of New Zealand skincare brand Emma Lewisham), but the sharp, inverted cat eye was the ultimate middle ground. Also, we can’t go past a smattering of sparkle.

Worthington’s hair is already short (her bob sits just below her chin), but the dresses open back called for a sleek low bun, as perfected by stylist Dallin James.

The G’Day USA Arts Gala is a yearly event that aims to celebrate Australia creatives in partnership with the US. Sam Worthington was the 2023 honoree for excellence in film and television, while fellow Aussies like Miranda Kerr, Phoebe Tonkin and The Kid Laroi also walked the red carpet.
