Following her widely-acclaimed Super Bowl halftime performance yesterday, Lady Gaga has announced she’s hitting the road to tour her latest album, Joanne.
But Australian fans might need to campaign for Mother Monster to add a Down Under leg, as the ‘world’ tour schedule only includes dates in Canada, the US, Brazil, the UK and Europe.
At present, the tour kicks off in Canada in August this year and wraps in the US in mid-December. But knowing Gaga’s dedication to her fans, she’ll no doubt make an effort to head Down Under if the demand is high enough. Gaga is an avid social media user, so even a hashtag trending on Twitter could be enough to convince her.

The last time Lady Gaga toured Australia was 2014, when she performed her artRave: The Artpop Ball shows in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
The seasoned pop star was applauded for paying tribute to America and encouraging unity during her Super Bowl performance after rumours the openly anti-Trump star might diss the President. Instead, she opened the show by standing on top of the stadium singing patriotic American folk song This Land Is Your Land while surrounded by hundreds of drones lighting up around her as “stars”, before going on to energetically perform Poker Face, Born This Way, Telephone, Just Dance, Million Reasons and Bad Romance.
Her performance wasn’t completely without politics though; Born This Way is a gay anthem written for the LGBTQ community and includes the lyrics “No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life.” Recently there have been reports that Donald Trump planned to rollback gay marriage and other gay rights in the US, no doubt encouraged by homophobic members of his cabinet and portions of the right-wing US population that voted him in, so it was a subtle way to encourage inclusivity at a time when hateful rhetoric against minorities is sadly too common in America.
