Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Oscars performance has led to what can only be described as a kind of mild public hysteria.

Twitter was set alight by the pair’s intimate rendition of their A Star Is Born hit, Shallow, as they looked into each other’s’ eyes throughout the entire performance.

Some suggested they “get a room,” others thought they were about to make-out.

All in good fun.

But now, in a narrative so predictable I guess we should have seen it coming, Mel B has accused Gaga of breaking “women’s code” with the performance. The Spice Girl thinks it was too much, since Cooper’s baby mama Irina Shayk was steps away in the front row, and believes Gaga ending her engagement to Christian Carino is further evidence.

“See, I felt so uncomfortable for Bradley’s girlfriend,” the star, real name Melanie Brown, said on Good Morning Britain.

“Lady Gaga taking her engagement ring off – she just broke off from her fiance – and if you put the maths together, you have engagement ring off, and then staring at Bradley Cooper in a way that I would say crosses a few lines.”

Brown even went as far to share her concern that Gaga and Cooper, who has a one-year-old daughter with model Shayk, were having an affair.

“I would like to think it was part of the whole performance, because there’s a women’s code and hopefully that’s not … hopefully it’s only professional”.

It seems outrageous that we even have to say this, but … they’re actors. Extremely talented actors who win awards because they give convincing performances. There’s even a psychological reason we feel so much watching Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga on-screen together.

Can we not overshadow Lady Gaga winning her first Oscar by accusing her of being a sneaky scarlet woman trying to steal another woman’s man right under her nose?

Thank you, next.
