Is it just us, or do the Kardashian/Jenner clan always seem to have the last laugh?

Kylie missed the Emmys on Sunday night due to illness (apparently Sofia Richie, her half-sister’s ex-husband’s girlfriend, came to look after her), and she dodged a bullet there given Kendall and Kim’s frosty reception when presenting an award.

Kylie’s been keeping up appearances on the ‘Gram nonetheless and on Tuesday dropped a bombshell — she’s about to launch a makeup collaboration with none other than Balmain.

”Paris is always a good idea 🇫🇷 surprise..” she wrote, with an accompanying photo featuring herself and Balmain’s creative director Oliver Rousteing. KYLIE x BALMAIN cosmetics is due to launch this Friday, during Paris Fashion Week, where Jenner will also act as Balmain’s artistic director of makeup.

In the photo, Kylie is wearing what is almost certainly a Balmain ensemble, a lilac feathered and beaded open blazer with matching miniskirt and a wide belt cinched at the waist with an oversize silver buckle.

Her eyeshadow matches the outfit, in an ombre purple wash of colour, and on her lips she wears a chocolate gloss. Her hair is worn in the chic lob she debuted on Instagram a week ago, while Rousteing, nuzzling into Jenner’s shoulder from behind, looks, as usual, more like a model than a designer. Those cheekbones!

Jenner’s new capsule makeup collection for Balmain will include a nine-shade eye shadow palette, matte lip kit and high gloss.  The packaging of the Kylie x Balmain makeup collection features Parisian street art while the playful eyeshadow names are all about fashion: Close the Show, Model Type, Attitude, Main Event, City of Love, Night Out, Top Model, Catwalk and PFW.

Jenner and Rousteing have crossed paths before, of course; she wore Balmain to the 2016 Met Gala and 2019 Grammy Awards.

Rousteing became close with the Kardashians through Kanye West, with whom he connected a decade ago, and his friendship and support helped Kim transition into the world of high fashion. All the Kardashian/Jenner ladies, including Kris, have worn Balmain. This is Balmain’s second foray into fashion; the fashion house introduced a lipstick line with L’Oreal in 2017.
