Kim Kardashian has always been a cultural phenomenon, so it feels fitting that her latest revelation arrives just as a viral essay ponders if it’s now embarrassing to have a boyfriend. On this week’s episode of The Kardashians, the 45-year-old reality titan admitted that dating simply “does not feel appealing” nearly five years after the dissolution of her marriage to Kanye West.
It’s not heartbreak talking, she clarified, though.
“You get really comfortable the longer you’re single,” she mused in a confessional, describing how the idea of sharing a bed, a remote, or even a favourite series has gradually lost its shine. That sense of self-protection, she added, comes from years of holding everything together “little and tight” for the sake of her four children: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm West.

The moment unfolded during a candid conversation with her All’s Fair co-star Sarah Paulson, who encouraged Kardashian to leave room for the next great romance. “Whatever the great romance of your life is… I want it to bloom,” the actress told her. While Kardashian appreciated the sentiment, she countered with her honest thoughts.
“I know Sarah feels like I’ve put up this wall,” she told the cameras, “but it’s OK to close down a bit and focus on the things I want in life.”

As someone long mythologised for her public relationships—including three marriages, a highly public divorce, and one very scrutinised romance with Pete Davidson—Kardashian has earned the right to be selective. Her brief connection with Odell Beckham Jr. also appears to have fizzled quietly.
Still, the self-professed “hopeless romantic” insists she hasn’t sworn off love entirely. “When the right person comes along, I’ll be so ready,” she smiled. For now, singlehood isn’t a void for Kardashian, but a choice while she channels her energy into more worthwhile experiences.
