Grimace. The Teletubbies. Violet turning into a life-sized blueberry in Willy Wonka. Purple’s associations haven’t quite been the most glamorous nor fashionable; forever a polarising shade in style circles. But when Kim Kardashian wears the colour – and head-to-toe mind you – it suddenly becomes a lot more palatable.
Walking out of a Calabasas restaurant an oversized purple sweater from husband Kanye West’s limited-edition “Sunday Service” capsule (the sartorial extension of his Sunday gospel service), shiny mauve leggings and souped-up pool slides, Kim Kardashian’s pious, purple look was enough to spark a fashionable dalliance with the shade.
While Kanye’s “Sunday Service” merchandise is no longer available (trust us, we’re looked), you can replicate the look with a purple-hued sloppy Joe – sans the spirituality. Borrow from the boys (like Kim does) and try an oversized sweater like Acne’s in soft lilac.
As for those shiny leggings, Koral have you covered with a shimmering pair in a near-identical shade, while footwear should be suitably chunky and pillow-like. Balenciaga’s iconic puffy pillow slides will do the trick, and we’ve tracked down a pair in pale lavender via Vestiaire Collective.
