Last week the long-awaited premiere of And Just Like That… was released to a tepid reception. The most disappointing aspect of the Sex and the City reboot was arguably the absence of Kim Cattrall’s beloved character, Samantha Jones. The actress has maintained that she will never return to the franchise and while she hasn’t directly addressed the new series, the 65-year-old had a subtle response on social media.

On Twitter at the weekend, Cattrall began liking several posts that discussed her decision to leave SATC.

“@KimCattrall I am such a fan. With the #SATC reboot happening, they keep bringing you up. I applaud you for making choices that are right for you,” @getmebadges posted. It received a thumbs up from Cattrall.

“Kim Cattrall didn’t return to SATC because her scatting career is finally taking off,” a second user wrote which was also liked by the 65-year-old.

“And just like that… I find myself only wanting to watch anything @KimCattrall is in. This is a Kim appreciation tweet,” another fan published.

Unlike Mr. Big, Samantha Jones was not killed-off in And Just Like That. Instead, writers placed the fabulous publicist in London after she had a falling out with Carrie. She was mentioned several times in the first two episodes of the new series but as GRAZIA contributor Melissa Mason wrote in a recent review, “Still, it feels clunky.”

According to past reports, the series will allow Cattrall to return if she wishes. “Samantha Jones is one of television’s all time much loved characters and Kim is a phenomenal actress who brings her to life perfectly,” a source for the Daily Mail said. “She needs to come home, if not for us, but for the fans that adore her.”

In the meantime the Canadian star has joined the cast of forthcoming drama series, Queer As FolkWe can’t wait to see her back on the small screen!
