Party season is well and truly upon us, and we’re feeling particularly invested in our beauty looks this year. After leaving our hair and faces relatively unadorned for the last year or so, putting time and effort into our appearance feels festive in and of itself, so we’ve been embracing colour, shimmer and shine with gusto.

Thankfully, celebrities have been providing ample inspiration for the holiday period, from audacious makeup looks to fun hairstyles. Katy Perry is the latest star to land on our radar for the latter, after recently posting a picture of her hair with fine strands of tinsel woven throughout.

The singer, who is currently promoting her Las Vegas residency, posted an assortment of images that channeled Elvis for the upcoming stint. Her colourful outfit was perfectly matched by the tinsel ‘fairy hair’, which has become a major trend on TikTok recently.

Creators on the platform have been showing off colourful, glittery tresses à la My Little Pony with tinsel extensions, and it seems Perry has taken inspiration for her own beauty efforts. Her shimmering tinsel tresses shone even brighter against her newly brunette locks, having returned to her signature raven colour a month ago.

The sparkling look is officially our on our holiday party moodboard, but we’re sure it won’t be the last from Perry. Her residency at the Resorts World Casino, called PLAY, will surely see the singer get even more creative with her notoriously colourful costumes.

Besides having the opportunity to experiment, Perry revealed that she committed to the shows as a way to spend more time with her daughter, Daisy Dove. “I really wanted to be able to strike more of a balance – to have a child and take her to preschool – but also be artistic and play with that energy,” she said.
