During the pandemic, celebrity gossip has been almost non-existent. With global lockdowns and Hollywood events turned digital or socially distanced, since March 2020, we’ve been starved of new romances, break-ups and make-ups.
But there were three couples, all of whom started dating during or just before Covid-19, who saved our bored brains: on the west coast, Ana De Armas and Ben Affleck and Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde, and on the east coast, Katie Holmes and Emilio Vitolo Jr.
Couples whose entire romantic relationship began during the pandemic and subsequently moved faster than normal due to government restrictions are now being dubbed ‘turbo relationships.’ And it appears that now that the real world is reopening, the cracks are beginning to show.
Already, couple number one, De Armas and Affleck have called it quits, and now it appears so too have Holmes and Vitolo Jr.
After being spotted kissing and hugging all over New York City since last September, in recent weeks Holmes has been photographed sans her restauranter beau, prompting people to investigate whether there’s trouble in pasta-laden paradise.
According to Us Weekly, Holmes and Vitolo Jr. have been on a break recently. “They’ve agreed to give each other space,” they said. “They both have a lot of commitments piling up.”
Another source also hinted at the split last week, telling Page Six that “Katie has a lot of big priorities in her life — she’s a single mum, her daughter always comes first and things were moving very fast.”
There’ve been numerous sources speak over the couple’s seven-month relationship about how fast it moved, especially given Vitolo Jr. had reportedly dumped his live-in fiance via text at the same time as paparazzi photos of himself and Holmes were released. They don’t call it a turbo relationship for nothing.
Styles, Wilde, no pressure. (But please don’t break up).
