At Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner’s June wedding, planners faced a nightmare: his brother Jared Kushner and sister-in-law Ivanka Trump mingling with their anti-Trump friends.

Former Victoria’s Secret model Kloss has never spoken publicly about having Trump and Kushner as in-laws until today, when she opened up in a new interview.

“It’s been hard,” Kloss admitted.

Kloss, 26, is known for having progressive views when it comes to issues such as women’s rights, gender equality and climate change: the opposite of the Trump administration. She was careful to underscore that her and husband Joshua’s values differ widely from those of her in-laws.

“I choose to focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life,” Kloss added.

Days after Karlie and Joshua’s wedding at a luxury ranch in Wyoming, it was revealed that Ivanka and Jared opted to attend a pre-ceremony celebration, but not the ceremony itself.

It seems unusual for Jared and Ivanka to not attend brother Joshua’s wedding ceremony, but it’s possible the Trump administration members wanted to avoid the possibility of any awkward altercations with the couple’s anti-Trump friendship circle.

Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher were among the stars in attendance who have been publicly vocal about their anti-Trump sentiment.

“I was really disheartened for a while [after Trump got elected]; it just brought up a lot of trauma for me,” Perry said in 2017.

“Misogyny and sexism were in my childhood: I have an issue with suppressive males and not being seen as equal. I felt like a little kid again being faced with a scary, controlling guy.”
