The late Karl Lagerfeld was remembered over the weekend on what would’ve been his 87th birthday. On September 10, friends, family and celebrities took to social media to post tributes for the German creative director, photographer and fashion designer who passed away in 2019 from pancreatic cancer.

Among those remembering him were Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour who posted a photo with the Creative Director of Fendi and Chanel, accompanied with a simple caption reading Happy Birthday Karl. Cara Delevingne and Bella Hadid also posted tributes to the fashion designer on their Instagram accounts. Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, Choupette also dedicated a square to her later owner, posting a collage of the two of them with a heartfelt message to her daddy.

The birthday tributes come a day after Fendi announced Lagerfeld’s successor, Dior menswear Artistic Director, Kim Jones. The position will see Jones designing for two LVMH houses, making him the first designer to work across both brands under the luxury parent company.
