Kaia Gerber has marked her first ever Met Gala appearance with an elegant ode to one of the fashion greats – Bianca Jagger. With this year’s theme being “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, the model decided to pay tribute to one of the country’s most influential style icons of the last century.
Wearing a show-stopping black Oscar de La Renta ballgown with a corseted bodice and full floor-length skirt, Gerber served an homage to the queen of Studio 54 with one daring twist – a peekaboo bust.
While Jagger’s original Halston look – which she wore to the 1981 Met Gala event – featured similar detailing around the chest, Gerber’s iteration of the strapless gown featured a flash of bare skin.
Gerber continued the Old Hollywood glamour through to her hair and makeup, with glossy, side-parted finger waves shaped by legendary hairstylist Guido Palau. Makeup artist Nina Park kept Gerber’s face natural, with nude lipstick, Bambi lashes and groomed arches.
Now that’s how you make your Met Gala debut.
