There’s a lot that we can attribute to Kaia Gerber‘s flawless visage. For one, at just 19 years old, she has the undeniable advantage of youth on her side. For another, she has those supermodel genes courtesy of mother Cindy Crawford. But it’s somewhat of a relief that even an in-demand, international face like Gerber struggles with that all-too-common concern – under-eye bags.
As Gerber revealed in a new video, under-eye bags are the singular hereditary trait passed down from her model mama that she’s perhaps a little less thrilled about. “I’ve learned to love them though,” she said, applying a touch of light concealer under each eye to subtly minimise the appearance. “I do think they’re cool, they give you like a Kurt Cobain-esque vibe. Even if you’ve had 12 hours sleep, you still look like ‘who knows what she did last night?'”
Gerber detailed her entire natural makeup routine in the video, starting with her favourite YSL Beauty Touche Éclat foundation to even out her skin tone and add radiance to her complexion. “I like to use my fingers over my brushes because it warms the product up in your hand – it just ends up blending more naturally,” she says as she works a touch of YSL’s Touche Éclat High Cover Radiant Under-Eye Concealer under her eyes, on her chin and along either side of her nose.
She then brushed up her brows and applied YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick Balm on both her lips and cheeks. “I love blush. I love the TikTok trend of doing blush on your nose to make you look a little sunburnt,” she said, dabbing it onto the apples of her cheeks, up over her cheekbones towards her temples, down her nose and lightly over her lids. Gerber then stressed the importance of faking the look over actually getting sun damage. “We’re not getting sunburned because we don’t want wrinkles, so we’re going to fake it,” she said.
She finished with a dusting of powder, a quick wash of taupe eyeshadow, mascara and subtle micro-winged liner achieved with dark eyeshadow. A dab of highlighter on the high points of her face, including the inner corners of her eyes and her Cupid’s Bow, and a touch of the Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick Balm on the lips polished it all off.
