It’s a far cry from her uncouth character Ruth Langmore in Ozark, but at the 2021 Golden Globes, Julia Garner looks like an old world, Hollywood movie star. Dressed in Prada, Garner is up for the Best TV Supporting Actress category, following her two Emmy wins last year. She’s a new-ish addition to red carpets (both virtual and IRL) but her impact is certainly felt – and we’re predicting many more hyper-glamorous looks such as this as the season continues.

For today’s appearance, makeup artist Hung Vanngo used Chanel Beauty to give Garner a Marilyn Monroe-esque look: velveteen skin, an incredibly soft flush, thick, doe-eyed lashes and shiny red gloss. It was framed with a touch of black liner and full, fluffy brows – part screen siren, part bombshell. Either way, it’s overwhelmingly perfect, especially on a face such as Garner’s.

It would be amiss to not touch on Garner’s hair; a take on the humble French twist as crafted by stylist Bobby Eliot. The actress’ incredibly tight blonde curls were loosely pulled and coiled around the nape of her neck, fastened together with an art deco hair pin by Jennifer Behr. Tiny pieces that had escaped worked to frame her face, softening the bold makeup and adding a little extra romance. Swoon.

While traditional, Garner’s beauty is the perfect example of what’s good about Hollywood red carpets: show-stopping glamour and a love for all that’s classic.
