Everyone’s favourite DIY TikTok fashion designer Julia Fox, who fashioned her own makeshift micro mini skirt out of an old pair of jeans on the app — and instructed her followers of exactly how to do the same — has, once again, given the people what they need and deserve.

This time, Fox opted to make a cut-out dress out of none other than an old beach towel, giving us, as she puts it “some end of the world fashion inspo”. “It’s no secret that towels have made their way onto the runway, so today we’re going to cut up this towel and make it a dress,” Fox explained, showing off a blue towel with a white hibiscus flower pattern all over it.

Starting by cutting a hole for her head, which ended up making the whole thing look like a giant poncho, Fox then added another slit where she wanted the dress’ hem to be and stepped through it, creating a train at the back which she then flipped up to meet the other fabric, safety-pinning it in place.

The end result is a backless boxy mini dress, which Fox flipped around the other way to make it have a cut-out in the stomach, instead.

Taking off her t-shirt and adding a pair of black leather gloves, oversized eyewear and knee-high boots and the look was complete. “I think it’s really chic,” Fox noted, flipping around so her followers could see the deep slit in the back:

The response? “I saw Julia fox wearing a towel so I wore a towel,” “NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES. Some wear towels 💁‍♀️”, and, “Girly just start a fashion line cause it would be a slay.”

What they said.
