10-year-old actress Julia Butters upstaged her 45-year-old co-star (and acting royalty) Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood playing precocious child star Trudi Fraser. And at today’s Oscars ceremony, the confident child actress did it again, this time stealing the red carpet with an unlikely accessory.

Dressed in custom Christian Siriano, Butters chose a rather interesting accessory to accompany her frilly pink gown: a turkey sandwich. Yes, Butters pre-packed a turkey sandwich which she slid into her crystal-covered Marzook purse (which retails for $2.5k USD) ahead of Hollywood’s most famous night.

But why? “I don’t like some of the food here,” she told LA Times reporter Amy Kaufman. Fair play, considering canapés and champagne aren’t really a 10-year-old’s thing. Or perhaps it was because the whole Oscars catering was vegan this year, with Joaquin Phoenix persuading the Academy to go plant-based at the Awards.

In a night of many highlights – including South Korean black-comedy thriller Parasite becoming the first ever foreign language film to win Best Picture – Butters and her turkey sandwich was a moment to remember.
