Over the weekend, John Mulaney and Olivia Munn were photographed on a lunch date in Los Angeles, marking the first confirmation of the new romance following reports that they’d started dating last month.
“They were having a great time during lunch, laughing and talking,” a source told People of the lunch date. “They were really enjoying each other’s company.”
Just three days after Mulaney’s split from his wife of six years Anna Marie Tendler was announced on May 10th, a source told People the comedian had already moved on with Munn.

“This is very new, they’re taking it slowly,” the publication reported on May 13. “They met at church in Los Angeles.”
In December 2020, after Page Six broke the news that Mulaney was entering rehab for alcohol and cocaine addiction, Munn tweeted her support of the comedian, with whom she had been reportedly friendly for years.
“Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney,” she wrote. “You got this.”

In a statement Tendler provided to Page Six via a spokesperson, Tendler shared her feelings about the news that she and Mulaney were ending their marriage of nearly seven years.
“I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage,” it read. “I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”

A spokesperson for Mulaney simply stated: “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.”
The former Saturday Night Live writer has been vocal about his struggle with substances in the past. He often discussed his sobriety and the issues that led up to it in his stand-up sets and interviews.
In a 2019 interview, Mulaney revealed he began drinking at age 13. “I drank for attention,” he said. “I was really outgoing, and then at 12, I wasn’t. I didn’t know how to act. And then I was drinking, and I was hilarious again.”
He said in an Esquire cover story that his drinking also prompted him to start using drugs. He says that while he never liked smoking pot, he “loved” cocaine and dabbled with prescription drugs.
Munn dated NFL player Aaron Rodgers, who is now engaged to Shailene Woodley, from 2014 to 2017.
