Jodie Turner-Smith and  Joshua Jackson have called time on their marriage.

As confirmed by People, the actress, 37, filed for divorce from the actor, 45, in Los Angeles after more than three years of marriage.

Turner-Smith and Jackson tied the knot in late 2019 after meeting and hitting it off at Usher’s 40th birthday party in 2018. In April 2022, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Juno Rose Diana Jackson. According to the divorce documents, Turner-Smith has requested 50/50 shared custody, a source confirmed to the outlet.

In September 2023, the former couple were last photographed together at events during New York Fashion Week.

Now, after a few months of keeping quiet, Turner-Smith has opened up about what went wrong in a new interview.

“Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK,” she told The Times. “The most important thing is that you choose what’s healthiest for you and your family and definitely your children.”

But she made it clear that she saw the positive in the experience.

“I don’t think it’s a failure,” she said of the marriage. “We obviously had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us. And how exciting.”

Tuner-Smith then urged people to step back and ask themselves if they’re being true to themselves within their relationships.

“If the answer is no, then you have to make a move because I believe that there are visible scars from staying in places that are not good for us,” she said. “And they don’t just affect us, they affect everybody around us.”

Though the pair are relatively private, Turner-Smith has spoken about their romance during some appearances.

“When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand,” the Anne Boleyn actress joked on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021. “We’re in a two, three-year, one-night stand now.”

In May 2023, Jackson told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that he knew Turner-Smith was “the one” when she “walked into the room looking like that.”

In August 2019, the two sparked rumours of a wedding when they picked up a marriage license in California. It was later confirmed that the pair tied the knot in December of that year, but limited details have been shared about the occasion. Later on, Jackson revealed that his wife proposed to him while they were on holiday in Nicaragua.

This was the first marriage for both Turner-Smith and Jackson, although the latter was previously in a long-term relationship with actress Diane Kruger. Since splitting with his former wife, Jackson has since begun dating actress Lupita Nyong’o.
