SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Nestled on the ground floor of the ornate 131-year-old building, The Strand—and ornamented by a sphere of ruby red roses— Jo Loves, a new store by British perfumer Jo Malone stands tall. The newly opened boutique is the first standalone in Australia, a feat since Jo Loves opened it doors to an intoxicating new world of fragrance, candles, and bath and body products 14 years ago.

The house’s signature scent, Jo By Jo Loves, is a full-bodied fusion of grapefruit, lime, Guaiac wood and spices, geared toward Gen-Z.

“All our fragrances have been created to be worn alone or layered together to create your very own bespoke scent creation,” says Malone via her website. “I love to wear two to three scents together, pairing them. I believe scent is one of the greatest accessories we can use today. It can transform your Sunday cashmere and jeans or your little sundress and make it unique and memorable.”

If you’re in Sydney, be sure to check out the grand new space inside The Strand Arcade. There’s even a Jo Loves Fragrance Brasserie Bar! But unlike a real brasserie, nothing is edible, it’s purely a sensorial experience— and one like no other. Think cleanser shaken over ice and strained into a glass, and lotion whipped into a luxurious foam and placed onto the skin.

“We have an enormous red glass bar, where bath colognes will be served from steaming tagines and shower gels will come in shot glasses,” Malone said of her London store opening many years ago.

Malone started her eponymous fragrance house, Jo Malone, in her bathroom in London before selling it in 1999 to Estee Lauder Companies for “undisclosed millions.” She stayed on with the company for five years before exiting due to her secret battle with cancer which she says was destroying her sense of smell. It did return and in 2011, she launched Jo Loves.

Malone currently resides between London and Dubai.

Jo Loves is located on the Ground Floor of The Strand Arcade, 412-414 George St, Sydney, Australia. Take a peek inside below.
