Jennifer Lopez is known for her hyper-glam beauty looks, but it seems the star is keen to return to her roots. In a recent Instagram post on her cosmetics page, JLO Beauty, the singer showcased a decidedly less high octane look, as she appears to have ditched her extensions in favour of her natural locks.
The Get Right singer’s hair was styled in loose curls, with her honey blonde locks falling to just above her shoulders. While Lopez is known for switching up her hairstyles, her glamourous aesthetic is typically synonymous with OTT hair extensions.
Some of her biggest beauty moments – think that Super Bowl half-up high ponytail or those waist-length locks she sported at the 2011 Grammy Awards – have been courtesy of some seriously bodacious hair pieces, effectively creating a recognisable brand of glamour that only Lopez can pull off.
While we love her trademark look, it’s refreshing to see the star take a break from Rapunzel lengths to embrace her natural hair, which is plenty thick, full and healthy on its own. Perhaps this new change was inspired by her rekindled romance with Ben Affleck, which has seen the Hustlers star experiment with a more relaxed aesthetic while on vacation.
It also could be a symptom of her recent relinquishing of all ties to her ex, Alex Rodriguez. Lopez unfollowed her former beau on social media and subsequently deleted all posts of the two of them together from her Instagram. So perhaps this new hair switch is just another signal that the star is ready to ditch old baggage and start anew.
