January 14, 2021: Yesterday, we fell in love with Bree Runway’s music video for “ATM,” and today, we’re obsessing over Jennifer Lopez’s highly anticipated new hit, “In the Morning.” The Bronx-bred singer exclusively unveiled the video on the social-networking platform Triller (watch it in full, here), which unsurprisingly sent fans into a tailspin over her breathtaking fashion, beauty, and obviously, the addictive new single.
The music video’s fashion moments are epic. Lopez stuns in breathtaking silhouettes from Valentino, Iris van Herpen, and Marco Marco, just to name a few. But it’s also imperative that we take a moment (or several) to celebrate every one of the singer’s many epic beauty moments. Her “In the Morning” glam squad was comprised of David Velasquez on makeup, assisted by Josie Melano, Chris Appleton on hair, and Tom Bachik on nails.
Ahead, GRAZIA breaks down the eight best beauty looks from the “In the Morning” music video. Keep scrolling for tips on how you can practically embrace the singer’s makeup, hair, and nail trends in 2021—along with our beauty editor’s product recommendations.
Extra Bold Winged Eyeliner
Everything about this modern Medusa look is fierce, from Lopez’s waist-length ponytail and statement winged eyeliner to her epically long black stiletto-shaped nails by Bachik. The perfect little detail was Lopez’s rogue, curled strand, making the singer look fresh out of the water. Her lip gloss further emphasises the sleek, drenched look. The “wet” hair and dewy makeup look has grown in popularity through the years, and we recently got another taste of this trend in the Versace Spring-Summer 2021 campaign, following its under the sea-themed show.
Purple Eyeshadow
When Appleton shared photos of Lopez’s “unicorn Barbie” look this past December, fans could only speculate what they were for. Our favourite part about this colourful look is her blown-out purple eyeshadow, a makeup trend that’s expected to surge in 2021.
Graphic Floating Liner
Graphic winged liner and inner corner eyeliner are two cool trends we’ve seen all over Instagram and the runways recently. Recently, models embraced a minimalist take on the trend at Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Spring-Summer 2021 show.
Hair Art
While you might not be creating hair art at home, it’s a fashion and beauty industry trend we expect to see more of in the near future. Most recently, we saw it on the Fall 2020 runway from Emilio Pucci. While DIY hair art might not be attainable (maybe don’t try this at home), you can certainly copy her bold red lip or use her blunt-cut bob as hair inspo for your next chop.
Rhinestone Eye Makeup
This soft-glam, gold-toned look is one of GRAZIA’s favourites, and it’s the reason why we’re adding gold lip gloss to our cart. Velasquez appears to have used clear rhinestones in Lopez’s inner corner and right under her lash line, which resembles teardrops. The floating rhinestone look is reminiscent of the 2019 drama Euphoria, in which the show’s fictional characters frequently wore rhinestones on their eyes.
Piecey, Textured hair
The world got its first taste of this look when Lopez revealed the single’s official cover art last November. In the pic, she’s au naturel, sporting the effortless, damp-looking textured locks that are quickly becoming Appleton’s signature (see: Kim Kardashian at the 2019 Met Gala).
Bold Statement Eye + Lip Pairing
Who says you can’t rock a statement eye and a statement lip? J. Lo certainly doesn’t, as she teams a rich burgundy lip with yellow and pink eyeshadow.
