Jennifer Lawrence has added her name to the list of many celebrities who’ve endorsed Joe Biden for President of the United States, revealing that while she now votes for the Democratic Party, she actually used to vote Republican.

During an appearance on Dear Media’s Absolutely Not podcast, Lawrence told host Heather McMahan that before the Trump presidency, she identified as “a little Republican” and that in her first election, she voted for John McCain. But the Academy-Award winning actress has recently done a complete 180 thanks to none other than President Donald Trump.

“I grew up Republican. My first time voting, I voted for John McCain. I was a little Republican,” Lawrence said, explaining that her upbringing let her “see the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies.” At the same time, she realised that some of “the social issues weren’t in line with [her] views.”

When “Donald Trump got elected,” however, everything changed.

“This is an impeached president who’s broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy, and it feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand. I don’t think it’s right,” Lawrence said of Trump. “It just changes things for me. I don’t want to support a president who supports white supremacists.”

As part of V Magazine‘s recent political covers, which also included Taylor Swift, Lawrence publicly endorsed Biden and Harris for the first time “because Donald Trump has and will continue to put himself before the safety and well-being of America,” she told V. “He does not represent my values as an American, and most importantly as a human being.”

With all these celebrity endorsements and even more political thirst traps, here’s hoping people get out and vote. him. out.
