In recent years Jennifer Garner has remained open about discussing her divorce with Ben Affleck and by all reports the couple have been amicable since. The actress has since reacted to the exciting news that Ben Affleck proposed to Jennifer Lopez at the weekend and her response, according to an insider, is all class.
“Ben told Jen and the kids, so they knew about it,” a source for E! News has revealed. “Jen is happy for Ben and knows that J. Lo has been a positive influence in certain ways.”
The sentiment was echoed in earlier reports when the couple first reunited after two decades in early 2021. An insider for Entertainment Tonight at the time said Garner “wasn’t bothered” by the news and that what mattered to the actress most was “Ben being a great Dad”. The former couple share three children, Violet, 16, and Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10.
The question remains as to whether Garner will receive (or even accept) an invitation to the wedding. A separate source for E! News has noted that Affleck and Lopez hoped to keep the engagement a secret for a little longer. It is also reported that plans for the wedding won’t happen for a while. In a bid to blend their families last October, the two Jens and Ben took all their children trick-or-treating together.
Garner and Affleck split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage before they finalised their divorce in 2018. In a past interview the 13 Going On 30 star described the struggles of the split. “Going through it in public is not what’s hard, going through it is what’s hard,” Garner told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. “My children’s eyes are on me.”
“When they were smaller and there were things out there that were shocking, my request to them was always, ‘Let Dad and I talk you through whatever it is,’” she added. “I’d tell them, ‘If you see an image on the front of a magazine, I’ll look at it with you and we’ll process all the scary feelings that come up together.’”
