She gets by with a little help from her friends.

While the biggest revelations that come from celebrity profiles typically relate to whatever project they’re promoting,  Jennifer Aniston decided to eschew that tradition in her latest interview. Instead, the 54-year-old actress shed light on a sweet tradition she shares with her former three-time co-star and creative partner, Adam Sandler.

Sandler and Aniston have appeared in a slew of blockbusters together, including (my personal favourite), Just Go With It, and the Murder Mystery series, though they originally met in their 20s as emerging actors in the 90s. Now, the Morning Wars actress is divulging the extent of their decades-long friendship, breaking up the negative headlines by sharing the bittersweet annual tradition she and Sandler share.

Revealing to the Wall Street Journal, Aniston revealed that Sandler and his wife, Jackie, send her a bouquet every Mother’s Day after learning about her fertility struggles.

Aniston didn’t divulge how long this tradition has been carried out, but it’s presumed that the Sandlers have known about Aniston’s struggles to conceive far longer than the public has.

Aniston broke her silence on motherhood and her IVF battle in 2022 after being the target of tabloid vitriol and gossip for over 15 years. Speaking to Allure, Aniston disclosed her efforts to conceive and the toil the media scrutiny combined with her struggles to fall pregnant took on her.

“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” Aniston told the publication.  “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard,” she continued.

“I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it.  I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”

Aniston also added that she has ‘zero regrets’ about the process, despite the outcome. “I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I? Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.’ I don’t have to think about that anymore.”

She also noted that the discourse around her lack of children caused great personal anguish as the media positioned her decision as “selfish” without knowing the degree to which she was actually trying to fall pregnant.

“God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies.”

It’s clear that Aniston’s decision to share this bittersweet news with the world is the same reason she told Allure about why she broke her silence on her fertility battle: “I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”
