Fans were treated to a sneak peek at Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci when paparazzi shots caught some of its cast filming along the streets of Rome. Today we were gifted with the official first trailer of the highly-anticipated film with Lady Gaga and Adam Driver (seriously, I need a copy of these posters). But it wasn’t the chic couple that made us do a double take. It was Jared Leto who was nearly unrecognisable with prosthetics and a bald cap. Give that makeup artist a raise.

Based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 novel, The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, the film will depict a dramatisation of the true story of the assassination of Maurizio Gucci and the subsequent fall of the fashion family dynasty. Driver will play Maurizio while Gaga will front Gucci’s ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. Leto will play Paolo Gucci – Maurizio’s cousin and a former Gucci design chief.

It’s a fitting cameo of course considering the Suicide Squad star is also a muse to current Gucci creative director, Alessandro Michele.

Al Pacino will play Aldo Gucci, Jeremy Irons will play Rodolfo Gucci and Salma Hayek will also make appearance in the film as Pina Auriemma – the clairvoyant friend of “Black Widow” Reggiani, who was sentenced to 26 years in prison after her trial in 1998.

Not everyone is thrilled to see the upcoming movie however. Maurizio’s second cousin, Patrizia Gucci, told the Associated Press in April that she was “truly disappointed” with the film.

“They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system…Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”

House of Gucci is slated to drop into cinemas from November 24.  In the interim, may we suggest exploring the King Richard trailer which was released this week (it is very good).
